Glenna Jean Bedding: Soft Heat Wide Wale Plush Electric Blanket Review

First a bit about history:
I have used Sunbeam electric blankets for years. They last 1-3 or so years but get flakey pretty fast: sometimes they don't work then work again; or they get hot spots; and when you wash then they get pilled and ugly. What a waste of money.

This "Perfect Fit" Soft Heat Luxury blanket is FANTASTIC!
It is DC, not AC like the Sunbeam. There is a DC converter as part of each controller. Although there was a question of danger of harmful rays from AC electric blankets, this supposedly is NOT the case with this type of DC blanket. The 25 volts (as opposed to 110 for AC) is also a whole lot SAFER re: electric shock.

This blanket is soooo soft and luxurious. The wide wale feels like it should not even have a sheet under it...you want to cuddle into it. :) You can put a top sheet over it, unlike the older styles where nothing was allowed on top (as in my cat who knows the value of a warm spot to snooze)

I don't know why they call them "warming blankets," saying that you don't really feel the heat. You CAN feel the heat, but it's not hot hot. Or as someone once said: "It's just right."

You don't even have to be put it on "high" (the Sunbeam deteriorates to that sooner than later). On LOW or just 2, I dropped my house temp by 8-10 degrees at night. And when I got up at that lowered room temp, I wasn't even cold...this blanket just keeps you so cozy. Supposedly, for every drop of temp of 1 degree in your environmental (room) heat you save 1% in heating cost...can't verify that, though ANY saving in heating costs these days is a treasure. It does make some sense, since only the blanket is heating and not the whole room.

The warrantee is an unbelievable SEVEN years. That alone speaks to quality!

And remember, the current in the blanket is DC (you can't feel the wires), and is NOT like the questionable old AC unhealthy types.

It is machine wash and dry.

Any downsides? I have only one beef: I worked like an acrobat to get all the wiring set up on my queen blanket with 2 controllers (one DC converter goes under each side of the bed) and 2 separate plugs, and not enough outlets. Phew. But...in the end, well worth it...since I don't plan on having to re-do the whole thing anytime soon. :) Fortunately the wires are plenty ample in length. And the numbers on the controllers stay lit for easy reading.

Why did I opt for this particular brand? Reviews by 20 owners on another site all gave it 5 stars!
